Drake Elm
The Drake Elm is a fast-growing, graceful shade tree known for its elegant, vase-shaped form, dense canopy, and distinctive bark. A cultivar of the Chinese Elm the Drake variety is prized for its glossy green leaves, exfoliating mottled bark, and excellent disease resistance, especially to Dutch elm disease.
Growing 30-40 feet tall with a broad 30-50 foot spread, it creates a lush, arching canopy that provides excellent shade and curb appeal. Its small, serrated leaves turn yellow to bronze in fall and are semi-evergreen in warmer zones, sometimes holding foliage through mild winters.
Tolerant of drought, heat, pollution, and poor soils, the Drake Elm is ideal for lawns, large landscapes, or as a street tree. It requires little maintenance and is adaptable to a wide range of conditions.
